Brisbane and beyond
The bold, vibrant city of Brisbane lies just a short drive north of the Gold Coast. Continue north, and the attractions become less urban and more focused on Australia’s natural assets.
Visit wildlife sanctuaries, wander local markets or lunch at the Glasshouse Mountains on the Sunshine Coast. Take a dive tour of the Great Barrier Reef and explore the incredible underwater landscape. You can’t go past the spectacular white sand of the Whitsundays without stopping for a night or two.
Longreach and the Outback
For an experience of Australia’s incredible inland expanses, head towards Longreach. This heritage town is a fantastic starting point for an Outback adventure, and history buffs will enjoy the many museums which tell the story of the region and the people who have inhabited it over the centuries.
You can head further into the Red Centre for an even more intrepid journey and take a week or so to drive to iconic Alice Springs and Uluru.
Wine regions of New South Wales
