Take a closer look at the Wanderlust Campers campervan
Wanderlust Campers keeps its fleet simple - there’s just one campervan (although they also offer car and tent combos).
Comprising the fleet are two-berth Toyota Estimas (or similar), which are easy to drive with power steering, ABS brakes, automatic transmission, and petrol engines.
Included in each campervan is a compressor fridge, sink, and gas cooker for basic meals on the road, as well as a secondary power supply so you can recharge your phone and camera. They have air conditioning and heating, and enough space for two large and two small pieces of luggage.
These campers are compact and ideal for one or two people to explore the country, and they don’t have large obvious Wander Campers logos on the sides, so you won’t stand out on the roads.
The Wanderlust Campers depot location
Wanderlust Campers is based in The Garden City - Christchurch. There are countless things to see and do in town, from the International Antarctic Centre and the Botanical Gardens to punting on the Avon and grabbing a coffee at the unique C1 Cafe in the heart of the city.
Once you’re ready to leave, New Zealand is your oyster. Should you drive south from Christchurch, you can visit the adventure capital of the country in Queenstown, and the historical student city of Dunedin. You can go farther south again, to taste the renowned Bluff oysters and explore the hiking trails around Invercargill. A Christchurch to Invercargill round trip is a fantastic way to see as much of the ‘Deep South’ as possible.
Then there’s the top half of the South Island. Home to seafood and whale-watching mecca Kaikoura on the coastline, and sun-soaked playground Nelson in the north. Visit Hanmer Springs for its natural thermal pools, and make your way to the tip of the island to hike some or all of the jaw-droppingly spectacular Abel Tasman Track.
And if you’re thinking of visiting the North Island as well, simply book a spot on the Interislander Ferry to take you across - it’s only a few hours by boat, and you can take a campervan road trip throughout the North Island before driving back down south to return your camper to Christchurch.
